Overwatch League: International Game

It’s no secret that almost everybody is getting into this very popular game today- Overwatch. Both young and adults are playing this video game. Almost everybody knows how to play Overwatch League. An international video game that will allow you to choose the character you want will let you experience the fun and excitement of being on the battlefield along with the other players.

Moreover, this is not just a game because once you played better than the others, you will be among the professional players. Thus, you will have the chance to be paid professionally. Blizzard Entertainment developed this on November 2, 2016.

In the year 2019 of February 14, Philadelphia Fusion and London Spitfire - the defending champion had a rematch. While on the next season, eight teams have competed, bringing a total of 20 international teams. The parent company - the owner and developer- Blizzard was asked to have 30 million to 60 million US Dollars for every franchise.

As mentioned earlier, as a professional Overwatch player, you will be paid professionally. Thus, players will be paid a minimum amount of 50, 000 US Dollars as the minimum amount of salary, which includes healthcare, retirement plan, and housing for the entire season. Overwatch League has about 170 players with a contract.

On the first season- finals, the league brought an overall 10.8 million viewers, according to Activision Blizzard- its parent company. The said finals were streamed live on Twitch. It was also broadcast on ESPN, ABC, and Disney XD.

Being the most-known international video game, the players who played better can continue their career in playing with Overwatch League. This is known as the league of international esports who are committed for the first-person shooters.

In the year 2017 of December, the first season for the said league was launched. Twelve teams joined, and nine of them are from the United States. The teams came from different parts of the globe, and 50, 000 US Dollars was offered to them as their minimum salary. A total of 3.8 million US Dollars was for the prize money. The said season gained 10.8 million viewers with Twitch, ESPN, ABC, and Disney XD, which was again according to the league owner and publisher, Activision Blizzard.

The Overwatch League way back February 14, 2019, had a rematch between London Spitfire and Philadelphia. The defending champion was the former.

During the second season, there were an additional eight teams which expanded the total roster to 20 franchises. Jacob Wolf from ESPN said that Activision Blizzard have paid 30 million to 60 million US Dollars for each team expansion to give them the right to join the league. Twenty million US Dollars was the total payment from the twelve teams for them to engage in the inaugural season. That only implies that the buying cost is increasing.

There was an expansion coming from China, specifically in Chengdu, Hangzhou, and Guangzhou. There were also two from Canada, one in Vancouver and the other from Toronto. Other teams were from Paris, Atlanta, and Washington DC.
